On June 26, 2013, we pulled back the curtain on Mel Lastman Square’s newest feature, an outdoor ping pong table.
The table is largely the result of hard work by Diane Moore and The Toronto Park People who helped make this feature a reality in our Ward in conjunction with City Parks staff and my office.
With close to 50,000 residents living within walking distance, the more things we have that draw people into our public spaces that are interesting and engaging, the better. Ping pong is an inexpensive sport that is accessible to players of all ages and will help encourage residents to be active outdoors.
So grab your paddle and a few friends and challenge them to a match this summer. I’ve been happy to see so many people already using the space and look forward to seeing many more over the coming years.
