In 2015, Nuit Blanche will be extending its reach to North York with the installation of internationally acclaimed artist JR’s INSIDE OUT. This ‘group action’ production consists of taking candid portraits with community members in a mobile photo booth, printing out the photos in a large format, and helping to install them in public spaces. Fall/Winter 2015/16 FUN Guide is now available online on the City’s website, and printed copies available at civic centres, community centres and libraries. Fall/Winter registration will start in North York on September 17.  There are several ways to register:

Online Registration begins at 7:00am on the registration start date. Please note that Toronto FUN Online is not available from 4:00am to 7:00am daily. During peak registration days, the system is shut down from 12:00am to 7:00am.

Sept. 3 Movie Night at Goulding CANCELLED due to weather

A note to all residents who planned on joining us for the outdoor movie night scheduled for this evening, we have been forced to cancel the event due to weather.  As the inflatable screen must be up for several hours, and several thunderclouds are tracking in from the northwest, we cannot be sure that the equipment will stay dry thoughout the evening.

Please consider joining us for our final film of the season, Disney Pixar’s Brave, showing Friday, September 11 in Gwendolen Park.

Edithvale Movie Night – Rain or Shine – August 18

The final night of our Edithvale film series is set to go tonight and will be rain or shine!  Weather permitting, we will fire up the outdoor bake oven in Edithvale Park (131 Finch Ave W) and volunteers will start preparing samples of fresh wood baked pizza at 7 PM.  Be ready for a good time!  In addition to the snacks, you’ll catch a free concert performed by Park Eddy on the outdoor stage.

John Named as Toronto’s Arts Advocate

On Monday, John appeared with Mayor John Tory in Toronto’s St. James Park and was introduced as the City’s new Arts Advocate.  In this role, John will be developing a number of new projects.

On June 10 & 11, City Council approved the rebuilding of the East Gardiner Expressway – the “hybrid solution” – by a vote of 24-21.  John was among those who preferred the teardown option, replacing 1.7 km of elevated highway with an at-grade boulevard with an elevated ramp only where the boulevard would connect with the Don Valley Parkway.
