Yonge-Sheppard Traffic Meeting
Date: February 10 2010
Time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Location: Earl Haig Secondary School, 100 Princess Avenue

Over the past year, a group of Transportation experts have been looking at how to improve the terrible traffic congestion in the Yonge/Sheppard area. A public meeting to present their recommendations to the public is being held:

Wednesday, February 10
6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. presentation: 7:30 p.m.
Earl Haig Secondary School
100 Princess Avenue

Unfortunately, they have come up with no magic solutions, and some of the key proposals require action by the Province. Recommendations contained in the report include:

  1. Reduce congestion southbound on Yonge St. by building a flyover ramp to the eastbound 401.
  2. Create a signalized intersection at Yonge/401 to handle the offbound 401 ramps onto Yonge, reducing the safety hazard that currently exists with cars merging onto Yonge.
  3. On Avondale Avenue, add a third westbound lane onto Yonge (by eliminating one of the eastbound Avondale lanes) to ease traffic congestion on Avondale.

For further detail on these and other recommendations, please try to attend the meeting.
