From City Hall: Electoral Changes

With Ward 23 having by far the largest population and number of households, the need for adjustments to ward boundaries is an important issue for Willowdale residents.  The good news is that Council has authorized a review of ward boundaries to level out the workload among councillors; the bad news is that no change will take place until the 2018 municipal election.  While the heavy workload resulting from the large population places a strain on our office, I am blessed with a fantastic staff which makes it all work.

Also a possibility for 2018 is a ranked ballot system, which in effect creates an instant runoff so that no candidate can be elected without 50% of the vote.  This system was endorsed by Council but cannot come into effect without provincial approval.
