City Consultation on Construction Dust – May 15

City Consultation on Construction Dust – May 15
Willowdale continues to be a neighbourhood with a very high amount of infill construction. When builders are not sensitive to impacts on their neighbours, this can be a source of great frustration.
Over the past several years, John has worked with the City to improve the resources it has available to enforce bylaws, improve training for building inspections and develop new communication tools for neighbours.
You can read more about addressing infill construction issues here.  Or find the City’s recently published Good Neighbour Guide here.
One of the most frequent issues reported is construction dust created by cutting stone, rock, concrete, tile and insulation. The City is currently considering new requirements for dust control measures. Municipal Licensing & Standards staff will be preparing a report to go to Council in July.
For residents who wish to provide their input on the City’s requirements, there will be a local public meeting on Tuesday, May 15 from 6 – 8 PM at the North York Civic Centre, Committee Room 1.  On behalf of City staff, I invite you to attend.
Residents who cannot attend the consultation in person but would like to provide comments can also e-mail mlsfeeback@toronto.ca.
John’s office also continues to monitor construction related issues.  If you have a concern, you can report them to my office by phone (416-395-6411), email (councillor_filion@toronto.ca) or by dialing 3-1-1 at any time.
