Caregiver Workshop 2020 Series

February 20 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

To take care of a person requires time, dedication, attention and commitment. It is too much love involved, but the daily duty sometimes can be overwhelming regardless of the age of the caregiver or the assisted one.

To support all faces of caregiving from the community, from February 20th to April 16th, North York Seniors Centre will offer for free the “Caregiver Workshop Series 2020 – Because you Matter“.

The event has been held for more than ten years with the leadership of Stacy Hilliman (Client Service Coordinator of the North York Seniors Centre). However, the new series comes more robust: 10 workshops presented by a spectrum of professionals from the health industry who will debate stress management, back pain and prevention, the phases of dementia and elder abuse, to name a few. It also caters to any caregiver.

According to Stacy, the agenda of the presentations was built based on discussions she had within her caregivers’ group. “We constantly apply surveys, and some topics that came up were considered.” She enhances that the workshops intend to provide awareness, essential insights and techniques to improve the ability to be a better caregiver. “Besides, it will be a place where attendants can socialize, meet new friends and connect with people that can support them”.

The “Caregiver Workshop Series 2020 – Because you Matter” will take place on Thursdays from 10 am to 11:30 am at 21 Hendon Ave. (Yonge and Finch). It is open to the community, but it requires registration.

To register, contact Stacy at 416 733.4111 ext. 310/ shilliman@nyseniors.org. Spots are limited. More information at: www.nyseniors.org
