Rembrandt and the Human Psyche

July 11 @ 7:00 pm

Free

Rembrandt has become synonymous with genius. He quickly transformed the artistic culture of his home town of Leyden, after which his most brilliant works arose when he moved to Amsterdam. There his portraits as much as his biblical paintings explored notions of conscience and the self that soon became an integral part of our understanding of the individual.

Ethan Matt Kavaler is Director of the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies and Professor of Art History at the University of Toronto.

Registration is required. Please call (416) 395-5639. Please inform staff if you are unable to attend.
