Join North York Arts on Saturday, Sept. 28 for Uptown Kid Lit, a children's literary festival at the North York Central Public Library. The festival is for kids aged 12 and under, and will feature comic drawing and storytelling activities, kidlit and comic exhibitors, and presentations by top comic and literary artists. Featuring George O’Connor, Deborah Kerbel, Richard Scrimger, Britt Wilson, Ted Staunton, Lesley Livingston, Kean Soo, Lis Xu, John Martz, Tory Woollcott, Chad Solomon, Anoosha Syed, Brian McLaughlan, Hilary Leung, and many more! Uptown Kid Lit is presented by North York Arts & The Toronto Comic Arts Festival.

The Big Draw Festival Toronto 2019

Ready. Set. Draw! The world’s largest drawing festival is coming to Toronto History Museums. Come and help create a masterpiece a Gibson House! Gibson House will present a "Take It Outside" art and storytelling zone produced by spoken word artist and storyteller Patrick de Belen. Activities include 'zine and chapbook making with BAM!Toronto Youth Poetry Slam, a writing and sharing circle with poet Thunderclaw Robinson, graffiti mural painting with artist Rowell Solar and a selfie photo-booth with UG Productions The event takes place on September 28 & 29.

The 6th and 18th Willowdale Scout Groups have partnered with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) to keep electronics, which contain many dangerous toxins, out of landfills and have them properly recycled. Accepted items include display devices, non-cellular home audio/video systems, desktop computers, floor standing photocopiers/multifunction devices, portable computers, computer peripherals, desktop printers, multi-function devices, personal/portable audio/video speakers, home theatre systems, vehicle audio/video systems (aftermarket), cellular devices and pagers. Beer/liquor bottles will also be accepted. Orchestra Toronto: Great Big Open Orchestra

Orchestra Toronto is teaming up with TOLive to create a Great Big Open Orchestra in the lobby of the Meridian Arts Centre (formerly the Toronto Centre for the Arts). Anyone with an orchestral instrument is welcome to join. Orchestra Toronto will hand out the music, and conductor Michael Newnham will lead this giant open orchestra in some symphonic classics. For those who don’t play, you can get a glimpse into the rehearsal process, as audience members are welcome to visit a rehearsal of Toronto Orchestra's string sections at 12:30 PM in the Studio Theatre at the Meridian Arts Centre.

Join me for the opening of Abbotsford Park in the West Willowdale community. In consultation with the West Willowdale Neighbourhood Association and surrounding community, the City has also upgraded the park itself adding new playground equipment, pathways, lighting and landscaping to enhance this great community space. Join us for an afternoon of music, face painting, and fun for the whole neighbourhood! A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the new park entrance (182 Ellerslie Ave).
