Homelessness in Willowdale – How We’re Doing

The global pandemic has impacted many aspects of our City and community.  This includes some of the most vulnerable among us. Homelessness has increased across Toronto during the pandemic and Willowdale has not been immune.

The City has been able to move over 1300 people off the streets and into stable housing since mid-March. Our office has received more calls and emails than usual in the last two months expressing concern about the increased visibility of homeless people in Willowdale. The volume of calls and the complexity of the issues can take some time to address. Open lines of communication between community members and our office is always helpful.

We appreciate your patience and caring as we continue to work with the City to secure shelter for the homeless and ensure the safety of everyone in our community.

Any resident or community member concerned that someone might be homeless can call 311 to be connected directly with a Streets to Homes outreach team. If it is a medical emergency please call 911.
