Immediate Yonge Street Resurfacing

Immediate Yonge Street Resurfacing

From May 19th to June 12th, the City of Toronto will be resuming the work of repaving sections of Yonge Street between HWY 401 and Finch Avenue. This will complete the project started in 2019. Construction will take place between 7 AM and 10 PM and will include grinding of asphalt, concrete removal and laying new road.

Full curb lane closures will occur affecting parking and pickup/drop-offs areas. Some sections of Yonge, including Avondale to Sheppard will see closures down to one lane during short periods of time. To minimize impact on traffic and access to business, the work will be carried out in staggered sections to avoid closure of the entire stretch of Yonge at one time.

Parking will not be permitted in construction zones. John is working with City Transportation staff and the CurbTO program to establish drop-off and pick-up areas on side streets off Yonge to allow local businesses to continue operations with minimal disruption.

This work remains crucial to prevent any further deterioration of the road while the City works toward a safer long term solution for Yonge Street.
