Outdoor Skating Season is Here

The outdoor skating rink at Mel Lastman Square opens this week. Residents looking for a fun, free, family activity can lace up their skates from 10 AM to 9:30 PM on weekdays or from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekends – access to the Civic Centre and washrooms will not be available outside of those hours. The rink in the Square will remain open until March, weather permitting.

As the weather cools, plans for neighbourhood natural rinks are also underway. These rinks usually require a stretch of weather with temperatures below -4°C. The neighbours operating the natural rink at Edithvale Community Centre are looking for volunteers to help maintain and operate the rink throughout the coming season. If you are interested in getting involved, visit their website.

Natural Rinks are also planned at Cameron Public School, Parkview Park and Glendora Park. Contact us if you are interested in working with your neighbourhood team of volunteers and we can help to get you in touch.

For the latest information and status of all City operated rinks, visit the City’s rinks website.
