Public Urged to Wear Face Masks

Public Urged to Wear Face Masks

To help stop the spread of COVID-19, Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Mayor John Tory strongly recommend that the public wear a face mask or face covering to protect others when in settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Toronto Public Health advises that wearing a face mask or face covering in public can help protect others from your germs. However, public health officials continue to stress that a face mask or face covering has not been proven to protect the person wearing it from COVID-19 and is not a substitute for physical distancing and hand washing.

Last week John wrote about local volunteers contributing efforts to sewforto.  Since then, we learned of another local resident who has started Handrcrafted By Heather, a company that has donated non-medical re-usable masks to NYGH and made them available for public sale for anyone still needing one.  If you know of other local sewers making masks available, please share their info with us so we can pass it along.
